The day after Thanksgiving we went to Santa Cruz, where Drew and Eva played at the beach - it was a spectacular day! Yes, some sand was found in diapers ;-)
Drew loves this place called Lollicups in Saratoga. He especially likes the fact that he can eat a lollipop while he gets his hair cut *and another one* while papa gets his hair cut! (note the lollipop next to the bib)
Drew's Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin Eva came to visit last week, and they spent LOTS of time playing together. It seems like they have a lot of fun digging in the sand box, pushing furniture around, and all sorts of other things.
Ok, so here we go. Drew is only two, but he requests to be in control of the motor vehicle. He knows where to put the key, how to engage the transmission, and how to steer. He even knows how to work the buttons on the steering wheel!
Drew sometimes gets too worn out buy the morning and falls asleep at lunch. Here we are at Hobees (celebrating Mama's birthday!) and he just puts his head on the table – crumbs and jam and all – and has a little rest... Before and after.
Drew is really loving his puppy. Just like any other child his age, he's got his special puppy/blankie. They used to be attached, but now are separate, so he carries both. One of his favourite things to do with puppy is to lay out the blanket for puppy to sleep on. This is similar to what happens at night when we put him in his bed. Drew is amazingly precise about positioning of the blanket, smoothing out ALL the wrinkles, and positioning puppy in a sitting orientation on the blanket. DO NOT GET IT WRONG - Drew will let you know ;-)
Drew and his family went to Canada for his summer vacation. First stop was Pender Island (near Vancouver Island). Here Drew loved feeding the goat at the farmer's market.
Drew-man visits family and friends in Colorado, including Jordan, with whom he kicks the ball around. Drew was laughing when papa was carrying him and kicking the ball himself. Next we have Drew and Papa playing in the water in the mountains above Keystone. Drew loves to throw rocks and watch the splash! A photo of Mama and Drew in Breckenridge. What a great trip!
Rocks continue to be a theme of Drew's interest, drawing his attention wherever we go - especially on the pathways where there are lots of Drew-size rocks. We would often find him with two handfuls of pebbles - holding on to them for the longest time...
Well, after *not* sleeping for 17 hours on Friday, Drew was doing pretty well today. We went to the beach and he dug right in! Drew is now napping, and in about 2 hours he's going to watch the famous Hawaii sunset! He hasn't seen the sea turtles from our balcony yet, but maybe tomorrow!
We took Drew to Sino, a local hip Chinese restaurant on New Year's Eve. He went wild, throwing his Band-Aid™s on the floor, playing drums on the table with chopsticks, and just having a great time. Here are three "personality" shots, taken within seconds of one another.
Last Friday Grandma Tuttles was in town, so we took Drew to Fisherman's Wharf. It was a nice day - in the 50s, with fantastic views of the bridges, bright sunshine, and a light breeze. Drew sure had a great time, and Grandma Tuttles also had a terrific time!
Well, on December 23, we decided to take Drew sledding. He LOVED being pulled by Grandpa on the sled, but didn't so much like going down the hill at Mach 2 with papa. There was crying. Oh well, I think he had a fun day anyway.
